ASI Sales Representative

Job Description

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The primary function of this position is high volume telephone sale of specialty product. This person must have a thorough knowledge of Alliance product, pricing and production capabilities. This position must be able to listen carefully to customers’ wants and needs and recommend the best selection to meet those needs. Recommendations should include pricing on exactly what the customer requests as well as suggestions of other product that might better serve customers’ purpose or represent cost savings for customers. This position acts as a liaison between customers and production, credit, accounts receivable and accounts payable and must be able to communicate well verbally and in written form to interact well with field sales and print shop personnel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a fast-paced office setting in conjunction with a manufacturing environment with frequent interruptions. Requires ability to communicate well in difficult situations and work well under pressure.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Answer all incoming calls and responds to all messages in a timely manner
  2. Assist customers in determining band size, color, and needed artwork
  3. Send samples or other requested information to customers or assign task to support rep as time allows for both parties
  4. Create prospective or new account information in computer and document all conversations, quotes and sent samples
  5. Send credit application to new customer or assign support rep to do so as time allows
  6. Determine pricing based on order quantity and product requirements and quote customers
  7. Determine customer pre-payments needed and communicate this to the customer
  8. Provide freight cost estimate to customer
  9. Process incoming orders and make copies available for appropriate filing by support rep.
  10. Cover ASI Sales Manager’s telephone, faxes and emails while the manager is out of office
  11. Attending shows upon request
  12. Monitor and research competitor products and pricing
  13. Maintain attendance according to Associate Policy Manual

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Special projects as assigned by the President and/or Board of Directors
  2. May be temporarily re-assigned to perform the duties and responsibilities of other position including those outside assigned department. The re-assignment will be at the discretion of the President and/or Board of Directors

Basic Qualifications

  1. Four (4) years related experience
  2. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Must be able to effectively communicate in English
  3. Time management, motivational and organizational skills
  4. Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency
  6. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  7. Ability to work with little supervision
  8. The ability to be a team leader
  9. Marketing administration knowledge
